Having a helluva time finding an outfitter who will do a drop camp in WY. I used to have a guy in the Bighorns, but he retired and now it seems that fully guided is the only way outfitters work. I'm sure that's where the money is, but there is a market being missed for DIY guys.

Is a drop camp considered a "guided" hunt in WY? If so, it would be a less expensive way for a nonresident to hunt "wilderness" areas.

Not in Wyoming but have done two in northern CO near Meeker on the Flat Top Wilderness. Saw lots of elk. Great guys to work with. Good luck in your search

A drop camp is not considered guided in Wy wilderness. The guide must be with the non-resident hunter when hunting Wilderness.

Are you looking for someone to tell you where to go and then drop you there, or are you looking for some one to pack gear into where you have already scouted?

The latter method worked well for me this season.

This outfit offers drop camps. And in very good areas as I have hunted guided with them several times.

Talus, the only territory I have decent knowledge of is the Bighorns in WY, for anywhere else it would have to be on the outfitter's recommendation.
