$418,500,000 cash after taxes in Idaho is more than my mind can wrap itself around.

That much money dumped in my lap would be a major PITA. Close and extended family would wonder why you weren't giving them a few dozen million each. Many of them would hate you for not giving them the money, then if you did and they spent it all they'd hate you for not giving them more.

I dream about the lottery like anyone but honestly, just a few million would set me up beyond anything I'd ever hoped for. A few thousand acres next to a National Forest for me and a couple dogs to wander on, a warm, sturdy cabin, a good truck and that's it. A couple more million on tap for maintenance and occasional travel and that's all I'd need or even want. Don't want a lot of possessions, they start to own you.

Seriously, if that much money were dumped on me I'd spend the rest of my life trying to find decent people who could use a small financial lever to get them on their feet - pay off their mortgage, pay their student loan off, things like that. That would be about the best and most rewarding thing I could think of.

All that, of course, after I had drunk my way through Las Vegas, smoked my way through CO, WA and OR and banged every nubile young woman that was willing to drop her drawers at the prospect of landing an old multi-millionaire. wink

Anonymously put smiles on a lot of faces in the form of dental and medical assistance. Might put up some new fence at the farm if I had enought left over. GW

Amazing that one small pimple on her butt distracted me for two seconds. GW

If you handle it correctly, it will be so far out in your peripheral vision as to not be noticed!

There were 25 winners last night who got the first 5 balls right. Can you imagine the letdown of getting the first 5 and missing the Powerball, worse than being a Bengals fan. Although, a nice 1 Mil would help with the letdown..

The first thing I would do is run to Walmart and buy some prepaid Tracfones. The second thing would be go to the gun range and blast my wife’s and my current cell phones into pieces-parts. Then set up an entity to buy a small comfortable hideout in a secure location (remote or gated) and move some sentimental possessions there. Then get a legal/tax/opsec team together. Then turn in the ticket. Then take a year to figure out what to do. Friends, relatives and charities would receive benefit, but on our terms. People I don’t usually see or speak with on a regular basis would be dealt with through intermediaries.

Of course, it can’t happen because we haven’t bought a lottery ticket since I can remember.

Donate half of it to Ted Cruz

I would buy the 48K acre ranch outside Walsenburg Colorado that the Ozzie shampoo creator has for sale. I drive by it each time I hunt elk in Leadville and it is a marvel. One year a pretty blonde was riding horse and I pulled up opposite side of the fence and had a nice chat with her. An incredible piece of property.
