Just popped on a new Ruger AR556 couple weeks ago, and just ordered the Nikon P223 3x32 scope and 223Nikon one piece mount.

Anyone else have this rig? How is it performing for ya?

Open for suggestions for QD swivels and a sling.

I did quite a bit of homework researching thru all the AR makers...and I just wanted a good solid performer that simply works each time you pull the trigger.

I'd appreciate anyone weighing in on their experience with the AR556, or the optic choice.

thanks,
dave

I ran that scope and mount combo for awhile on my gun till I decided I wanted a bit more magnification. The only thing I don't like about the Nikon tactical scopes is the BDC circles. Would much rather they had just used hash marks.
The mount is fine for a light scope.

I've 3 of Nikon's AR mounts and like them fine for the price. I'm not a fan of their circle rets at all, but haven't had an issue with them losing zero.

I have looked, and double looked at my nikon 3x32 P223 scope and it has hash marks on the BDC reticle, not circles...

just bought it last week, online from academy sports.

Found out today, that my Ruger hates Tula steel cased ammo... Ran 60 rounds thru it, and had to feed nearly every round manually due to FTF issues.... Switched over to some of my GECO, brass ammo, and it ran like a swiss watch..

You mean Nikon finally got rid of their goofy BDC reticles with the circles? Maybe they're listening to their customers after all.

On the Russian ammo - I think the cheaper Tula ammo still uses a lacquer coating on the case that gums up the chamber in short order.
I've heard that the poly coated cases are better. Can't say for sure, don't use the Russian ammo, too dirty.
I do like their primers though.

I'd appreciate you trying yours out and letting me know what you think about it. I've been thinking about buying the exact same set-up. Ruger AR556, Nikon mount and probably one of the Nikon M223 3-12x42 scopes...

I wouldn't count on it, but it would be damn nice if the started listening and got rid of the fu cked up circles and gave us some hash marks like the burris ballistic plex or Leupold LR reticles...

well, I am just loving the Ruger/Nikon combo for my uses. fit, function, price, scope, all of it is good in my opinion. No regrets here.

My scope definitely has hash marks, not circles. If you buy the 3x32 scope, be sure to not buy the one piece nikon 223 mount as it will only fit longer tubed scopes. Buy the two piece 223 mounts for the shorter 3x32 scope

Very satisfied here, and although I never plan on selling...with the Ruger name on the side, it'll likely hold it's value decently over time.

I refuse to use any TULA in any gun, including pistols, but I do use some of the uncoated steel cased Wolf stuff in some AR's..........a little oil on the top 2 rounds in a mag has worked & I've yet to have an issue in the 2 guns that I run it in. Not really too dirty either.

I've also run some of the Hornady steel match ammo with no issues.

This. I just got back from dropping the one piece mount off at the PO for return to Cabelas. The Nikon 3x32 P223 scout was too short for the one piece mount.
