After seeing 375 Win.advertised in our classifieds for a mere $95.00 a box I looked on line to see what I could find.I found these and they are made with the Barnes Originals 255 grain bullet. They shot great in my 38/55 and are supposed to be good to go for the 375 Win.A much more capable bullet than the 200 grainer in my estimation.Huntz link below: https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=159

Wonder why Winchester just didn't reintroduce a 38-55 rifle instead of "inventing" the .375?
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

There's a big chamber pressure difference between the two, and the 375 isn't safe in older rifles, or standard levers for that matter. It was only chambered in the Big Bore 94 which is a beefed up 94. The 38-55 round was obsolete at the time. It was only revived and began to be chambered in new rifles again with the advent of Cowboy Shooting.
Buffalo Bore is good stuff.

I've used a very similar load in my H&R Classic target in 38/55. It's just over 1900 fps with the .377 Barnes 255 gr SP so it's very close to BB's load.
A few years ago I shot a doe through the meat of the near shoulder and lungs at 150 yards with it. While looking for blood in the food plot, I noticed what looked like a bullet impact in the dirt of a little rise that was behind the doe when I shot. She ran about 100 yards leaving a good blood trail after about the first 25 yards or so.
After I found the doe I came back to the impact point in the dirt and after a little digging I found the bullet which had penetrated the doe and about 8-10" into the dirt. The only damage to the bullet was that the lead nose had washed away. Other than the missing lead point and rifling grooves it looks pretty much like an unfired bullet.
No expansion but a .377 bullet still leaves a pretty big hole and IT DID ITS JOB.

Is it possible to punch them out to .375 JDJ?
Not sure if the mag tubes would hold the larger brass or not.

Mike You would need the 1895 action and tube. You would be better off sending a donor rifle to Jes for a rebore.

Buffalo Bore is good stuff. it was chambered in more than the winchester big bore, my marlin in the safe is witness to that.

Mine is a Savage 99, I bemoaned the loss of the 250gr loading from Win, this 255gr loading from BB looks to be the cats azz for my gun.
I've been looking at the Starline 38-55 brass ad am thinking about buying some and trimming it to 375 length.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

starline has been saying that i think for some time. I would hope to see it happen. I really like that caliber. you can trim the brass, but it still shouldn't be loaded to the levels the 375 is capable of.

Correct, I had one. Shot extremely well but the recoil was kind of fierce. The stock design made it almost impossible to mount a recoil pad. I believe I still have cases, reloading dies and a few hundred cast bullets laying around the loading room somewhere. Jim

Here's another case of recoil being subjective. I've got a shooter grade No.3 in 375 WCF and I don't find it offensive at all. I would definitely take a pass on shooting Level 2 or 3 handloads in one of the 45-70 chambered ones though.

Ok thanks...no problem but I was responding to the question asked in the post immediately pre-ceeding mine regarding the introduction of the 375 to the Winchester product line.
