So have you ever bought a gun and didn't have the highest of hopes for it, but were delightfully surprised at how good it really was?

For me it was a Taurus PT92. I put that pistol through hell. 15,000 rounds of Egyptian SMG ammo that was comfortably over NATO pressure, and that Taurus just ate it all up without a complaint.

Another one that surprised the heck out of me was the Beretta 21. I wasn't surprise that it worked, it's a Beretta after all, but I was really surprised that it really fancied itself a target pistol. It was way more accurate than it had any right to be.

Yeah - same experience with the Beretta 21.

The RIA 1911 was another. Still amazes me how well it works and how accurate it is.

Oh - the Savage 110 bargain package in .243. Biggest accuracy bang for the buck I have ever seen.

Taurus 1911. Amazingly tight tolerances and as accurate as all get-out.

Taurus judge a friend bought. What a hoot!

Oh - here's another one.

My father left me a Marlin (Glenfield) model 60. Trigger ain't so great, but that thing is surprisingly accurate. It consistently outshot the hot-rodded 10/22 that I used to have.

I have the Savage 110 in .223 and I had it in .308

The .308 firing pin broke on me after 20 or so rounds

But, was it accurate? wink

You dumped the .308 for a broken firing pin?

My Taurus PT111 Millennium G2. I picked it up because I didn't want a $1000 SIG stolen out of the car. It runs like a top with everything I've fed it so far. It has a great trigger pull for a striker-fired gun and not too far behind a conventional trigger/sear/hammer feel. My first group was surprisingly small. 12 + 1 capacity and it's about the same size as my single-stack SIG 239.

It's about $300 retail and I got it new for $250. Much better than it has a right to be at this price point!

no I had it fixed but I ended up wanting a heavy barrel in .308

I guess my surprise was the K31. I love that rifle.

Another...

Taurus 94. DA trigger is nothing to write home about, but when fired SA, the trigger is unbeatable - and it's accuracy is right up there or better with my MKIII and my Buckmark. The blue finish is also really good.

Colt Frontier Scout .22lr.

That revolver was one of the most accurate I've ever shot.

I could literally hit beer cans at 100 yards consistently with it.

Citadel 1911 45ACP.

Very accurate and reliable. Way more gun than I paid for.

Savage Axis .223, 3/4" groups with just about any (not match) ammo I have tried in it. Trigger sucked out of the box, but was an easy fix. Shoots better than my Rem 700 .223 that cost over twice as much.

E.German 9mm Makarov.

Bought it when they first flooded the USA market. IIRC, $159.00 OTD.

Never FTF, impressive build quality. Hits where aimed or pointed.

Wish I bought more than the one that I did.

Traded an unneeded chainsaw for a SIG 2022 in 9mm. Meant to trade it off because I felt hammer guns were out dated (Glock guy) and 9mms were anemic. Then I shot it. And shot it and shot it.

Well howdy. Accurate, fun to shoot, ammo cheap and everywhere, holds Damn near half a box of ammo. Now my favorite carry gun.

What a sweet shooting gun, probably best ever for me .22

The 9422 old favorite sits in the rack now.
