Hello Men ! I am looking at a Winchester model 70 Coyote light in 270 wsm This rifle has been in my local shop for at least 4 years . It has the Baco inc on the side of it. I know nothing about this rifle but know a lot about the 270 wsm . They are asking $900.00 for it. I have been eyeballing it for 4 years but wonder why it hasn't sold . It is new un fired . They also have the extreme weather for about 250.00 more Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. I would not pay that much for any BACO model 70. Not even going to call it a Winchester. Sorry. 79s would be your best guy to ask this question to. He has a love affair with the wsm's. There may be a reason that shop has had it for 4 years. Think about it...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I will add 270 wsm neat cartridge but in the end I think it doesn't really offer a advantage over the plain Jane 270 Winchester again that's just me..

It's been sitting on the shelf because it's about the ugliest rifle Winchester ever made. In my experience, the cartridge is easy to load to factory levels.

It does have CRF and stainless steel action and barrel. Sorry I didn't give that info. Yes it is super ugly ! But some of my 1/2 Moa rifles are ugly . I love beautiful wood But it drives me nuts to scratch them so just about every rifle I own sports a synthetic stock of some sort when in the field .

Oh I thought it was the on with the blued action anyhow I wouldn't pay no $900 for it. You can pick up the classics a lot cheaper

I will add 270 wsm neat cartridge but in the end I think it doesn't really offer a advantage over the plain Jane 270 Winchester again that's just me.. I sit here and laugh, only because I've seen a transformation with you my friend. Hey, we can say we've tried them and kind of went back to the old tried and true cartridges. Except for a few I know you hang on to. The WSM is fat and faster, but the old 270 is sleeker and you get 2 more in the magazine with almost the same performance. What's worked for some 90 years still gets er done very effectively today. Hell, I'm not even a 270 Winchester lover, but I know when a cartridge is enough perfect that it doesn't need much improving on... The ol 30-06 also comes to mind when I think of old cartridges that just flat out work..

Thanks for the welcome bsa! You are welcome. One thing about it, we all have different tastes. If you like the rifle, maybe try talking the gunshop owner down on that price if you really like it.. It's probably a great shooter, but is not my cup of tea.. Check this one out. It sold for $880.00 and it had a damn Zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50 scope on it. That's a $700.00 dollar (used price) scope. The buyer basically paid $180.00 for the rifle...: coyote 270 wsm with Zeiss conquest

I love the std 270. It worked for Jack O'Connor and it works for me. I admit I have no love affair with synthetic stocks and if I were to buy a WSM it would be the 300 NOT the 270 due solely to the bullet selection in the 300. The 300 will do anything a 270 can but it just doesn't work in reverse.

No way would I pay $900.00 for a Win. Coyote. keep looking and you will find a decent Model 70 for even money.

Thank's for all your input. I do believe I will pass on the coyote . It would be awesome for the Winchester brand of rifles to be built back in the states .

I know I can get more fps but 2940 is plenty of enough for me and what I hunt..
