Saw that awhile back on another forum...having some mixed emotions on the subject. Don't consider BPCR cartridge rifles a recent developement nor short on performance. Still standing on previous posts that I'd like to see the 'special' seasons abandoned for a general hunting season of greater length. Don't think it would serve anything other than the common good of hunting in general. Compound bows, in-lines, modern conventional muzzle loaders, or Old Reliable...nothing primitive about them in proper hands or normal circumstance. Fella made the 1000 yard club for VHA a few years back with a .45-120...'yote trying to steal a p. dog he'd just killed a few minutes earlier.... I say call a spade a spade, and call hunting hunting. A large portion, and I do mean LARGE portion of archery hunters in the Windy State use bows because State Law allows them to do so after having their Right to Keep and Bare infringed due to criminal convictions. I find it rather frustrating and ironic in a sense that Bows are a popular choice these days for poachers down here....and recently, murder in my neighborhood. That said I think people would hunt with what they like regardless so long as the season(s) allow it.
My comparitive view of all of this is based on this: None of the weapons above are restricted to ranges less than a modern shotgun loaded with buckshot, or in some cases Forster Slugs. These draw no special consideration and I've hunted with them for years with great effectiveness. Time for a reality check....
Rant off.
Sorry about going off on a tangent, I just had a second cup and am feeling a bit full of myself at the moment. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
