First impressions; very solid, quick handling little rifle. Comes up like a shotgun with both iron sights and scope. A bit heavy...9.37 lbs with a 3X9 accupower scope.

I fired ten shots with 270 gr hand loads & the scope and 5 with iron sights. (dead on at 50 yards)
I got it zerod with the scope and it seems to be shooting 1 1/2" without really getting too serious.

Recoil with the brake is just a big push. Actually pretty mild. Noise however LOUD!!!
Without the brake it's noticeably heavier than my H&H that has no brake.
Trigger is crisp but heavy at 5 lb.

Looking forward to working with this rifle..slick package.

(when it gets a bit warmer than the 5 degrees now)

I've got one, love the gun for it's purpose... But like my H&H Win M70 much better for target shooting and Africa. Lost some of the hearing and have a faint ring in my left ear after forgetting to put plugs in last winter when I wanted to shoot it and get back out of the cold.. Had a thick stocking hat on and just forgot the hearing protection. And my former "Annie Oakley" wife develpoed a nasty flinch from the blowback from that damned brake... She was handling the recoil from the M70 just fine but wanted a shorter LOP.

Do yourself and those around you a favor and leave that brake off, learn to handle the recoil... It's all about proper hold and positioning.

I plan to take mine to AK.

I'm leaving the brake on. My M77 kicks no harder than a WW2 M1 with it and hits so hard without it I change shoulders each shot. There may be some benefit to shooting off both sides.....
OK I admit to being near half deaf myself from long term exposure, but on the Ruger, wearing earplugs, the noise sounds the same on or off. I've become such a compensator fan that I'm having one put on my 308.
It's my belief that in 10 years or so they will be commonplace.
Yeah the poor guide gun, it's homely and unfortunately not chambered for the H&H but I'm ordering one. It's my belief that if Ruger chambered those for the H&H they couldn't keep them on the shelves - but then the 375 Ruger cartridge may flounder.

Love my 375 Ruger Guide Gun. I keep the brake on. Wear hearing protection at range. Used it on a Damage Control deer hunt and didn't have time to install ear plugs at time of shot. Verily heard the gun go off, but the impact on the deer was creepy. You heard the fluid dissipated. That was a factory 270gr. load. Now I have a load a Nosler 300gr. Accubond bullet traveling 2590fps. out of the 20" barrel.

FWIW saw a TV show shooting the guide gun. I think it was the 375. Anyway they measured the decibels with and without the brake. Almost no difference according to their meter. Don't know how that could be but numbers don't lie. Shooter recoil was visibly less with the brake. As always, your mileage may vary.

Love mine too. Pretty accurate with everything I have put in it. Fits me perfect at 13 1/2 LOP. I will leave the brake on. Pretty snappy w/o

Keep an eye out on the stock at the tang. If there is not enough clearance it will crack. Mine did and I sent back to Ruger. They replaced stock free of charge.I have a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36mm with Alaskan Arms quick disconnect rings. I have mine free floated and have clearance at tang of stock. Had my gunsmith hone bolt rails, sear and adjust trigger pull 2 pounds. I am getting 3-shot 3/4" group at 100yds. with the 300gr. Nosler Accubond. Using RL17 powder with a Winchester Large Magnum Primer. Had to prove to my hunting partners on deer that it wouldn't blow deer in half. This is my dedicated elk gun. One of these days might go to Alaska or Africa.

700

I just ordered a Timmney trigger for mine. While it is out of the stock will make sure it has plenty of clearance around the tang. Hate to mess with anything else as it is shooting so well.
