I have a TRADITIONS "THUNDERMAG" rifle but, i haven't shot it in years. It is in good condition with no rust. It has a 1/32 inch twist rate. I was wondering waht type bullet would be best in this gun. Any suggestions?

You may get good results with full caliber conicals but your best bet would probably be using sabots with bullets less than 300 grains. That 1-32 twist might not stabilize the longer 45's.A properly applied 240-260gr .45 cal. bullet should handle most situations.Try the T/C Cheap Shots.Very acccurate , inexpensive and devastating on impact even at lower velocities.

gregj,
I have a 32" twist .50 cal ML too, and so far I have shot 348 gr Powerbelts and 385 Hornady Great Plains Minie's on the conical side, and .429"/240 gr JHP/XTP Hornady with sabots. All shot accurately with 100 gr (by volume) H777.
I think there are a lot of choices that will work, but I don't know of a "best". The 100 gr H777 seems to be outstanding though.
Recently I bought some new bullets and sabots to try. There are a lot of them out there!

Hornady Great Plains bullets (385 and 410 grain) also shoot well in my T/C Hawken with a 1 in 48 twist.

Thanks guys, I think i will try the conicals and the powerbelts and see what does best. I want to try H777 loose powder and see how much better than pyrodex it is. One of my friends says 777 is much cleaner than pyrodex. I am pretty much a newbie to muzzle loading guns. I have only hunted once with this rifle and that was seven years ago. I want to get back into it.
