Hi guys, I'm new to reloading (old guy). I have been reloading for my Rem 223 and 243 Win. Yesterday I took a small flashlight and looked into my seating die (223). There was a ring of copper? flakes around the very top of it. Is this normal? I used some copper killer on a Qtip and it cleaned up. These dies are 6mo old. I have been reloading H-Vmax and Nosler B tips.
According to my go to books by J.B. if the bullet is not seated straight accuracy is going to suffer. This copper build up could affect accuracy couldn't it? Thanks Bob

Just where bullets are rubbing.

They were rubbing at the the tip. Looked like a bunch of flakes, but was about the same amount all around. Not a build up on one side or the other. Thaniks Bob

Are you sizing the brass before pressing in the bullets?

I had an expander ball that was oval instead of round. Shaved copper every time I seated a projectile.

+1 if the bullet is not deformed or burred.
