Hey guys, I want to thank you for all the excellent info that you put out.I was posting on the gunsmithing forum yesterday and Calhoun directed me to this forum.Due to some previos posts I figured out that there is nothing wrong with my new toy.I was maybe thinking I needed a new barrel but was able to figure out i needs a new scope instead.Aways wanted a 250 savage and now I'm the proud owner of a takedown SN 2325xx. Yeah its a gray rat but it will hunt Im sure.I also have a very good 30-30 SN 276xxx but am unsure if they are A's,Gs,or what.Any info would be appreciated.Im gonna get the book that Mr.Murray wrote also. thanks again dave

Well, with that serial number the 250 is probably a model 250-3000 dating to 1921. Pistol grip, checkered and 22" barrel, right?
Going to need more info on the 30-30.. Pics would be great, otherwise need details like barrel length, is it checkered, pistol grip or straight grip, take down or solid frame.
Glad you figured out the issue with the 250.. didn't even realize over on the gunsmith forum that it was d&t'd. Or do you have a Stith mount on it instead?

It came to me d&t'd, but thats fine because i hunt alot of swamps and at dusk i need the scope, cant see good enough with the peep in low light. The pictures will be here soon as i figure out how to shrink them. The 30-30 is a straight grip, solid frame with checkering, the blueing really good on it also. And yeah the 250 does have the pistol grip, checkering and 22" barrel.its had a lot of use and shows it.A shooter she is though. dave

What's the barrel length on the 30-30? And you might have a special order there, most straight-stock 99's didn't have checkering. It's a 1925, by the way..

[color:"brown"].22/250 = 1921 .30/30 = 1925, but Rick99 sez that Murray's numbers of "off a little"... and these are Murray's "numbers", so there may be a year's "difference".
It's smart to hang around old guys 'cause they know lotsa stuff...

By 22/250 I think you mean 250-3000? Either that or somebody was doing some SERIOUS wildcatting back then. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The 30-30 is either a special order or the stock set has been replaced.
Check under the buttplate to see if the numbers match your reciever.
