My old optical sighter has given up the ghost and I am considering one of the newfaingled laser types. What works, what doesn't or should I just get another optical?

How man guys use theese? I have a 1" dot in the shop.I vice the rifle barrel centered on the dot and bring the scope to it.....works every time.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.
