Looks like a high of -1 for the day. With wind chill factored in it's -25. Went fishing this morning and got a few Crappies. The slush on the lake is terrible this year. I have a long track and I still got bogged down in some places. I have the sled in the pole barn unthawing next to the stove. I'm baby sitting it along with a couple fingers of bourbon. It's supposed to be -25 tonight with a wind chill of -40. The trees will be cracking and popping tonight.

It looks like I've topped out at -6 for the day here.
No idea what's in store for tonight but it's a clear blue sky presently so.... It's gonna be cold.
Something clever here.

78 degrees on Oahu today. 25' surf at Waimea Bay, but too late for the Eddie Aikau surf meet.

Yes, it sounds like it will be a cold one tonight. It sure is nice parked next to the stove in the pole barn for now though. Putting some new line on a couple rods for when it warms up in a couple days. The dogs are curled up on a small mattress by the stove also. Where abouts are you located?

These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

35 above here in Alaska today... Geez, break out the shorts and t-shirts. LOL It's supposed to get in the high 20's by next week here. Just recently retired and enjoying every minute of it so far. My wife (works from home for a large corp. in the twin cities) has two years left before retirement.

The slush on the lake is terrible this year. I have a long track and I still got bogged down in some places. I have the sled in the pole barn unthawing next to the stove. Why would you re-freeze your sled and why would you try to do so next to a stove?

Why not just pick the ice off with a deboning knife?

Why would you re-freeze your sled and why would you try to do so next to a stove? The slush from the lake splash's up (from the track) and got thrown from the track covered the entire bottom half of the machine. It freezes then and that's when things stop working. I bring it in to the pole barn and park it by the wood stove to unthaw the frozen ice. That way the next time I use it the track, suspension, steering etc. work. I'm sorry if I was not clear in my earlier post. Slush when it is this cold is murder on a sled.

He was picking on "unthaw" rather than the specific acts.
To melt ice is to thaw...

We have 11 degrees where I am located, with a wicked wind chill of below zero. It is supposed to get to about -10f overnight. Up by you guys, it will get well into the -20 range if the wind dies.
Hey HawaiiPD, I used to live in Kailua Oahu as a boy. I attended Lanikai elementary and Kailua intermediate. I have some fond memories of skipping school at a couple times a month to go diving and spear fishing out around the Mokulua islands and down the length of the reef to what we called Flat Island. Do you where I am talking about? The water back then in the mid 70s was clear and there were a lot of nice reef fish, lobsters and octopus for harvest, and no tourists or crowds. I wonder what it is like now.
