I have been looking for an answer to this question. I have searched many forums and some claim 1:8 some claim 1:10 and others 1:12. Tikkas website says either 1:8 or 1:12. What is the real answer?

My newest is 10. 8 came before that and 12 may have been used at some point.
Not a gun writter.

About 3 years ago, Tikka made both 8 and 12. Your choice. Since then they changed to 10. I have an older 8 twist.

Mine (T3 lite), purchased back in April last year is a 10 twist. If you can find a T3 Super Lite (fluted barrel), they made a run that were 1/8 and could be found last half of 2015.

It is. The Ruger GSR 556 is 1 in 8 and uses an Accurate Mag that will accept an OAL of 2.35 IIRC

10 twist is barrel stamped as well. Was in the local store today and they had a blued 8 twist blue T3 Lite in a short barrel config.
If interested, let me know via PM and I'll provide the store contact info.

My blued hunter model is marked 8" twist. The definitive way is to measure it with a cleaning rod and snug fitting mop.

Ive had two, a Varmint model from the early 2000s and a T3 Lite version, both were 8 twist, but as has been described, I have seen other twists. Both of mine were serious shooters, but personally I always grab an AR when .223 is the cartridge of choice.
The funny thing is that the T3 Lite was as accurate as the varmint, if you had a solid shooting platform. A truly awesome rifle. It accounted for a good number of Yotes.
