45K. 2011 Power-stroke. Warranted until the end of the month. Service manager called says #4 cylinder is dead. No compression.

Had all oil changes and maintenance work done by dealer.

Would have cost me 20K to get a new engine.

Not counting my chickens yet. But Service Manager says it's all covered. Probably will be talking to her about an extended warranty at this point...

20K for a new engine?! Holy chit!

Glad Ford is going to "take care" of you.

Maybe, but new full long block with turbo replaced is 24K.

Took a bit to get someone from Ford to pay attention. What ever you do NEVER take anything to Dicks Auto Group in Hillsboro. They tried to ass rape me on this thing. Wouldn't even call the other dealer to see what the history of the truck was.

Ford's dime but a rebuild at the dealer than relies on the skill of the technician who may/may not have ever done it before. Further warranty issues with the engine then are a question - did the tech do something wrong or was it another failure?

Cheaper for Ford/dealership to sling a new factory long block and mitigate that future, arguable risk of an improper engine rebuild.

Remember those were the first year of that motor too. May be (probably are) some known issues.

Maybe, but a lot of "apple" drivers really only needed "tangerines". Got one across the street from me, the knucklehead doesn't even OWN anything to tow with his F250

Agreed! I have a 2012 that has been in the shop once, just many times as the two Tundras prior to it. And was only a bad EGT sensor - was in and out within two hours of it shutting down on the freeway!

That is why that guy in Billings (IIRC) is booked up over a year installing 12V Cummins into Ford trucks.

I wouldn't call driving a Ford lucky.

I know of what I speak.
