Remington 700 P in .308. Feeding rounds into the magazine, the first 2 go in fine. The third seems to need forcing to get in and ends up kinda wedged down where the case head is too low to be picked up by the bolt to feed it. It also puts things out of whack to load a 4th or 5th round. The spring has good tension and the floor plate sits up against the bottom of the feed rail and doesn't hang up when pushed down with a finger. Any insight here?

the round is suppose to be slightly angled upwith a push feed this is the spring probably needing adjusted. the first rounds load because theres enough tension on the spring with multiple shells loaded,as it empties there not enough tension on the spring so the round hangs down in front towards the breach. i have had to adjust mine on several guns.

Reloads or factory? If reloads make sure your OAL is within spec.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

Sometimes I guess I need someone to help out my stupid self. I don't know how but I somehow loaded a few rounds long so the long rounds would fit a little cattywhompus and not allow following rounds to go in on top. I was seating everything at 2.800" but I must have not followed through on a couple rounds when seating. I figured it out when commercial ammo went in no problem. Another reason why you can never assume you got it all right when reloading. You need to check. The Rem700 box does not allow much longer than 2.800 in my rifle.

Yep I have an older 6mm that will run 2-3 rounds pretty okay when mag length but after that things get iffy. I run it as a 2 shot gun now, 1 in the pipe and 1 on stand-by. I assume your bullets were lead tipped? Hard to make those exact same length, just the nature of the beast.
