That is exactly what I did. The Handi .270 sits in the safe without a scope and the Stevens .270 killed two bucks and several hogs this year already.

Hey
All you ignorant and handi bashers. My 06 handi will out shoot most high end rifles out there. It is a simple design easy to clean reliable, loads easy, easy to look down the barrel, and most of all accurate. I own a few high end guns like ruger nbr 1's and my 06 handi will out shoot my nbr 1. Go read Brian Pearce artical in nov Rifle mag. Come on give it up take your bolts and use them I will use my handi for a good field gun. The places I go into most of the time its in a canue ( dont grade my spelling) I will not take my nbr 1's there no way. Handi's are good tree guns, compact and will break down very easly. I live in a slug area and hunt my acrage I use my ultra slug nef in 20 gauge, a tack driver and compact. What Rocket is saying is he like me loves the ejector not for a follow up but I can keep my eyes on the deer or coyote and load without looking ant the gun or fishing for a spent brass. I got quite good at loading a handi fast. hope I didnt offend any here just get off the handi users back.

Good Idea. It is best to look at a Handi-rifle as little as possible <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />---2MG

Bearbeater, they act like they have no common sense. Its like they are thinking of something unrelated before they get through reading a post, or in some instances they actually try to reply in a manner to intently offend. Its like dealing with attention deficit disorder kids and juvenile delinquents . Every thing I've proposed is progressive. Their negative attitudes are the very reason forums like this are seen as a joke for taping into market analysis and indusrty desired trends. Can you even imagine the advocacy power a venue like this could have if the participants supported one another? And how fast things could be responded to. I believe you can. And why don't they? They all have the same pursuit. I've identified a marketing trend that's shortchanged me and fellow hunters. We've literally been left out in the cold. I've said why not serve the extractor preference and the ejector preference both in the Handi Rifles by NEF? Something NEF needs to hear. Our fellow hunters should be supporting. Its perfectly clear what has taken place. How that garners smart ass remarks and unrelated replies is something I simply don't understand. There's no respect here for anothers enjoyment. One fella actually said he saw it as a "non issue". How freak'in far is that off the planet earth? Why did he even bother to get in the discussion? I'm for meeting everyone's preference and passing on information that feeds the outdoorsman's enjoyment of all related pursuits and preferences.

Talked with Gordon Haskins today. He's practically head honcho at NEF/H&R. I'm told he's been there for ions. His input on the sticking problems was that most of it is created outside NEF's facility. True in both my instances. This is changing the suject, but I'm pro ejector for the Handi Rifle. I'm for you extractor lovers too, so don't get your feathers ruffled. But right now we gotta get ejectors back, and lobby for BOTH designs to be manufactured and made available. Hey, hunters for hunters, right!! I believe after talking with Gordon Haskins today, a really understanding fella, it can be done. He indicated to me that he needs us to demonstrate through contacting him that such a request is desired. (Making both designs available.) Makes perfect sense to me. He's gotta have our backup in the form of us contacting him so he can have the fodder to git'er done. In contacting him there's no need to complain about something, just make a statement to the effect that you desire an available choice and request the Handi Rifle line offer BOTH the extrator design and the ejector design. We can do this. What a great country we live in!!! Take a second and write this down.... Gordon Haskins, (NEF/H&R). Phone: toll free 866-776-9292 or 978-630-8220. You'll get customer service, simply ask to speak with Gordon. "...Let's roll..."

Rocket 1- There has been a number of articles in The BACKWOODSMAN mag. about these rifles. I believe you would find them interesting. Not everyone can afford expensive rifles or just want something different. I used a Buffalo rifle made by this Co. in 45-70 with a Creedmore sight & I inlaid buffalo silver dollars in the stock. I used the rifle to shoot a bison on an indian reservation. Unfortunately, there are some that think you must use a specific stock, action, & scope to shoot game with. I could give a rats a$$ what this group thinks. I only have about 40 trophies from around the world. Good hunting with your Handi Rifle.
