Bass Pro has these on sale for $549 after rebate. I've been thinking of picking one up in .308 to use for Hogs. It's a drive for me to get to the nearest store to check one out. I've never shot or handled an ABolt. Is this worth my time? Was also considering a Vanguard S2 Stainless. Thanks for your opinions!

I've owned both, but don't own either of them anymore.
However, both shot extremely well, sub-MOA with handloads, and were easy to get to shoot that way.
I sold the Vanguard to finance a Sako L461 in 222RemMag. Enough said...
I sold the Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 243, due to the high gloss finish. I was thinking of changing it to a satin finish, but a guy at my club bought it for his wife before I did.
I then bought a TC Icon in 243, so it's a more appropriate coyote gun than the Medallion.

I've shot truckloads of hogs and other game with mine, in .30/06. It is also about the most accurate hunting rifle I own. At $549 that would be a great buy.

Get the one that feels the most balanced and seems to point the best in your hands.

I know this is an old thread but I'm new and have a soft spot for my Browning. I've got a Miroku A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker in 300 Win Mag with a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10 x 50 mm with a 30 mm tube and ill reticle. Thankfully my range offers 200 yards and that's good for up here in yankeeville. Lead sleds and big, fat seat cushions are nice too. I've bought/sold other rifles over the years but I've kept my Browning.

I also have an ‘06 in the abolt II, stalker model. It has been among the most accurate rifles I have owned (and I have had many). It would put 5 rounds under an inch and often under .8” groups.

I had an A Bolt once upon a time, it was nicely accurate and carried well but I did not care for clip feeding and a two position safety. I like floor plates or blind magazines and three position safeties and so down the road it went. I don't think I lost too much on the deal but you might think about these things. I didn't and wished I would have.

I also had an Abolt ll from bass pro. It was in 06, and I regret selling it to this day. But a fella offered me more than I had in it and uses the money for a Sako Tecomate 270 wsm. But with all that said it was an awesome rifle. I do plan on getting another here in the near future. I wouldn’t throw rocks at the Vanguard either, both would fill your freezer with swine. Pairs with some Barnes TTSX 150’s and you in the killing business!
