1000 yards Three shots at 1000. For reference, sticker is 8" Five shots at 1000. Opened up a bit but wind was pretty stiff and variable so I'm okay with it.

The longest I will shoot at a critter is 600 but going long sure helps when the 600 yard shot presents itself. Five shots at 400 yards from pack as a rest. The plate is 8". Coues, here I come!!!!

I've got to work on the field position pack shooting, can't get the crosshairs to calm down. But I will get it figured out.

+1, what are the specifics on the barrel to get the rifle to come in that weight with the NF scope?

For what it's worth, my friends, brothers, and I killed 4 coues last year with a 243/90 scenar.
First was hit twice at 500 yards, once behind the shoulder, and the second shot angling from the back of the ribs and forward, low in the chest. Both bullets exited and caused a lot of internal trauma, no heavy bone hit.
The next was at 200 yards, downhill from us. First shot hit too far back but angled forward to the back of the lungs, and the second shot crossed the chest the other direction as the buck had spun around. The first bullet exited, and the second nuked pretty well, but I found the base of the jacket against the far hide.
Third buck was a dink spike shot at 60 yards running toward us, hit once in the center of chest and face planted. The bullet exited below the heart.
Last buck was at 80 yards. I shot him running right to left, bullet hit the shoulder and destroyed it. Buck flipped over and was dying when I reached him. Not sure how much of the bullet hit lungs, I don't think much.
Anyways, I wouldn't hesitate to take that bullet again for coues. It was a bit messy, but the only one that didn't shoot through the deer was at 80, and that would tend to be tough on any cup and core bullet.

Oh, and some fine shooting you've done there. You'll have no problem on coues with that kind of setup.

Smoke, the barrel is 23" and measures 0.575" at muzzle. The action has been lightened and the stock is around 16oz I think.

Very nice, I'm jealous. Any idea what those actions weigh?

Nice rifle. And great shooting!
Work with the 87 VMax? Or just the 90?
