Sadly no photos to share with you guys, but wanted to encourage you fellas still locked in snow that spring's almost here. Hang tough! Our bear season is a month away and I'm getting antsy already.

Got out with a compadre today and shot the 99F .243 to 320 yards. Mostly shot standing offhand, but did some sitting too. Just blowing up rocks down a canyon. Had a great time after a long winter. The 99F .243 is the most accurate 99 I own. It will shoot Nosler Partitions into .4". Amazing. Never been a .243 guy but I'm trying to find a use for one.

Beats sitting around, get on out there and smell some gunsmoke! grin

Not a .243 guy, per se, but the biggest black bear I ever helped drag out of the woods (Pennsylvania) was shot with a .243. We would still be dragging that SOB out of the woods had we not stumbled upon an old sheet of roofing tin and made sled out of it.

And here I thought we were in for a whoop-de=doo!

The 243 is a great cartridge! Heck, it is always in the top 10 for popularity and it drove a stake into the heart of the 250-3000, so it can't be all bad!

It is impressive to shoot. A guy could choose just any Savage levergun and hunt everything with it.

Agreed, but then again my only experience with a .243 was a M700 BDL long ago, in a galaxy far away.

Got in about 45 minutes of fishing yesterday, couple of bites and one smaller largemouth. I think it was 45 degrees and 30mph winds. grin

Today it's 29. Tomorrow supposed to be 59.

Nebraska.

What does that mean? 100" instead of 120"? grin

Dang Mike, pretty boring out there. I think we had 65 yesterday and it might snow Friday. To tell the truth, I'm about ready for some boring, Joe.

13" of snow here last Wednesday, then 50 degree temps over the weekend melted it all. Then today another 10" of snow. Progress towards spring is slow.
