this afternoon that put a grin on my kisser and that is the fact that this .54 Hawken with 34" barrel shoots a lot flatter than I was expecting! I took it to the 200 yard line and found out just how to hold to get POI toward center. The AR500 plate you're looking at below is 28" depth and about same width. I fired 3 shots initially....no hits! I suspected that I was holding too high so using the same placement of the front sight into the rear notch that I use at 100 yards I held the top of the front sight at the upper right hand corner of this plate and got the 3 hits you can see! The wind was blowing around 5 mph from 4 o/clock so that required the hold off I used! Drift wasn't as much as I expected either! This was using .530 Hornady roundball and 100 grs. KIK 2F powder. Didn't fire any more as I was losing light but I left the range with a grin on my face! Untitled by Rick Mulhern, on Flickr Untitled by Rick Mulhern, on Flickr

Well, I do shoot an inline since my eyes went bad, but killed several deer with a .54 Hawkins. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

You should hunt those square white deer. Much easier to get a good sight picture on them.🤔
What fresh Hell is this?

Use em both. But my inlines hold a larger charge. A little more knock down power.
.50 Cal Hawkin 1 elk .50 Cal inline 1 elk .54 Cal inline 3 elk
They all work just fine if I can do my part.

If I am seeing this correctly you got a 200 yard double tap. With iron sights and a 54 caliber projectile. Hell yeah if I had photo bucket I would be posting! Well done sir.

Basically what this means to me is that this rifle has POTENTIAL! Time will tell whether or not it....and I can shoot consistent groups with it from 200 yards!
