Dude---they're not playing. But I bet USC beats the perenially overrated Irish handily.

And how about them Mountaineers---how in the world could that team have been ranked Number 7? I'll admit to a slight SEC prejudice, but the rankings are a joke when any of the top 4 or 5 teams in the SEC would simply destroy teams like W.Va., Louisville, or Rutgers and yet they're supposed to be top 10 talent.

Wasn't it almost a year ago that SEC Champion's Georgia thought the same thing about West Virginia?

Shows how times change---Georgia isn't even in the top 4 or five in the SEC this year, and last years Mountaineers would have run over the mighty University of South Florida Haitians (or whatever they are)like a speed bump.

I thought USF was only let into Division I was so really bad teams like Rice or Tulane would have a safe homecoming opponent. Who knew they would be giant-killers?

I was watching that interview with Charlie Weiss (spelling?) where he was commending Pete Carrol and the USC Trojans for having won 54 of their last 57 games ... and the combined total of the points they lost by in those three games is 8 ... less than a field goal difference in score per game ... THAT is insane, and forces me to give a little more respect to USC than I'd like to ...

bottom line ... I don't think that ND has a snowball's chance in hell this evening against USC, especially since they are playing in the Coliseum ...

then again, there's a very good reason that they make them actually play the game, and don't just rely on stats ...

and I remember the Sugar Bowl in 1994, with Florida beating WV 41 to 7. WV was ranked #3, and 11-0 up until that game.

Now South Florida is NOT in the SEC. They are in the Big East. For a team with only a few years now playing Div I ball, they are quite a good team. Still WV should have beaten them.

In a basketball conference, you don't have to be real good by national standards to win a lot of football games. See Louisville.

Florida is pretty unlikely for the Rose Bowl. If they win the SEC Championship game they're going to the Sugar, and I can't see the loser of that game getting a BCS bid. Bowls historically shy away from a team coming off of a loss. Never know though...

Uh USC doesn't play Florida?? As far as the Rose Bowl I'm hoping LSU sneaks in there. An 10 - 2 SEC team with a 6 game winning streak and coming off a win over #5 Arkansas has to be pretty attractive to the Rose Bowl people. Of course I'm biased...

My mistype after reading about the Florida game, if USC beats UCLA. LSU would have to pull a big sneak to get in but you never know.

If USC beats UCLA, USC is most likely playing Ohio State for the championship ... which would put Michigan in the Rose Bowl ... Florida will likely beat Arkansas, which would put Florida in the Sugar Bowl ... Leaving LSU to be picked up by someone ... That's where the Rose Bowl comes in ... it's very likely that the Rose Bowl doesn't want a Mich. v. ND rematch, especially since ND really didn't look that great in their game against USC (despite Quinn's good numbers) ... so, LSU starts to look VERY good to the Rose Bowl committee, as well as the Orange Bowl ...

Right now, LSU, USC, and Ohio State are the hottest teams on the block ... LSU will be playing someone in a big time bowl game ... I'm quite sure of that...

If (when) USC beats UCLA, they will be playing OSU, no doubt there, as I said Michigan in the Rose Bowl, but I'm thinking maybe Arkansas will beat Florida, what then? I would think that puts Florida in the Rose Bowl, maybe. I hoot on them, but they are a tough team.

it will be a toss-up between LSU and Florida if Florida loses to Arkansas ... LSU should be ranked higher than Florida if FL loses to Arkansas ... but either way, the Rose Bowl will be at liberty to choose whomever they wish ...

I'm banking on LSU's status as a very good, very 'hot' team right now ... lots of bowls should be wanting a team like that, especially when their fans travel very well ...

LSU will be going somewhere, but if Florida loses, i still think they would get the nod over LSU, but you are right, it's up to other people to decide

History says that if Fla loses they drop way down as far as the bowls go. Normally the Championship game loser doesn't even make the Capital One bowl (#1 non BCS SEC bowl). Last year a 9 - 2 LSU team dropped all the way to the Peach bowl. I'll be shocked if Florida gets a BCS at large bid if they lose next week.
