Anyone have tips on getting these loaded straight? I am just beginning to play with some of the Eabco. sabots and first four shots 2 went into a nice group, the others a foot out and keyholed. Not looking for max velocity just a light low recoiling load for an elk rifle.
Not too worried about powder info. just looking for any tips seating and trying to get the bullet and sabot lined up to get them to stop keyholing.

I played with them some back in the late 70's early 80's and had some good times with the 55 grain Nosler BT.

As for getting them straight,it was just a matter of taking time and doing it over and over till i got it.
Might have to try some of the heavier weights to see if they group better.
Good luck

Just thought of something.
Might be worth a try to use the flaring tool set that Lee has for loading cast bullets.

Sounds about like the results we got in 1985 shooting factory 55 gr accelerators from a Rem 742 in 30-06.

Thanks for the info. I am trying some different seating methods and I also am gonna back down the powder to see if it helps.
Believe it or not even with a charge of Unique they get down range fast.......

I believe Eabco provides load data that goes to 4900 fps for 50 grain bullets. I believe it would be nah impossible to get things stabilized at anything near that speed.

If you simply want low recoil, you can get it easier using full-size bullets with reduced loads.

I shot some today at 40 yards and only three hit the target board, sideways with two of them still in the sabots. I give up , the forth round seemed to hit about two feet low and at least that far to the left. I will buy some cheap 147 gr. fmj's and work on a practice load from them.

Played with some at near 5k, 20 years ago. They got better, the faster we pushed them, but were never better than minute of Coke can at 75 yards. We called them glitter makers; was all that was left of a full Coke can, and never saw an impact on the backstop. Not sure what bullet, but seems it was a 55gr....but that was way back. I've got a bag of sabots, if anyone wants them.

The ones I slowed down to only 2300 fps were the worst as the sabot was still with the bullet at
40 yards. Faster speeds probably shed the sabot the instant they leave the muzzle and help the probability of being stable. I am done with this for now. seems to be a waste of primers......
