This eagle was hit by a logging truck, and we helped to try and save it. It was amazing to see such a majestic bird upclose. Alas he joined the great flock in the sky a few days after the end of the video. EAGLE RESCUE VIDEO

Well _I_ thought the video was cool, as well as the soundtrack <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Vermin? "Ahem".... Suffice to say that none of the Paradise crew are featured on the Great Seal of the United States.
I did think the guy who had it wrapped in a blanket was a tad foolhardy for twice putting his finger on the eagle's beak. I was reminded of a well-meaning person who picked up an injured heron by the side of the road in Texas some years back.
He picked it up and the injured bird with a single strike promptly hit both the guy's eyes with its open beak, he didn't lose 'em but suffered permanently impaired vision as a result.

Eagles are foul (fowl?) vermin...... Well, _I_ liked the video, I mean, how many Paradise guys are featured on the Great Seal of the United States? I did think the guy holding the bird wrapped in the blanket was foolish for twice touching the beak of the eagle with a finger. Some years back a good samaritan here in Texas attempted to rescue an injured heron by the side of the road, when he picked it up the bird promptly hammered both his eyes with a single blow of its open beak, left him with permanently impaired vision. Herons can be freaky....equip them with a set of giant mandibles and count me out, unless I have eye protection....helped move a Red-Crowned Crane once.... and I swear.....when I was locked in the back of that vet van....Ned trying to keep ahold of the legs and me trying to hold the wings.....I was worried....the thing was a giant<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. Bald Eagles are beautiful scavengers.....but I might could pick a bird a little more deserving of thoughtless following.....but I tend to get sweet for the ugly ones....I am sort of different that way, lol...<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />..... Herons are tough to get friendly with, at less than arm's length, due to their propensity for stabbing at eyes. I watched a rehabber giving a demo. at one of our wildlife agent refreshers many years ago, get nailed on the cheek by a GHO. That woke us up! I handled some large birds at times such as eagles and pelicans. I was moving an injured bald eagle from one carrier to another when it tried to make a break. I was able to whup it, but it put my back out for about a week from the strain. Bird lived, was released 3 weeks later back where we found it, (north Louisiana) amid a cheering crowd and the press. But I was not cheering, still a little sore-backed. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
