I own a very nice M/93 in .38-55 caliber. Unfortunately, someone in the distant past scoured out the chamber (changing internal dimension) and now the rifle cannot be fired without disassembling the rifle to remove the spent cartridge. Rather than relegating this nice old piece to wall-hanging, what are the possibilities of rechambering to a larger cartridge or caliber, such as .45-70 etc.? Thanks,

Regards, Jack

Unless your brass is separatin and leaving the body in the chamber, you probably have an extractor issue, not a chamber issue.
Chances are, your fix is possible with the presant chambering. Your gonna have to do sme footwork, but its better to find a good smith than to wreck your gun for good by boring it out.
If you really want a 45-70, get a new one, refrain from hackin up your classic.
