I've heard a couple of smart gun guys say that too and I don't really get it. Doesn't it come with a thread protector over the threads? I don't see how it hurts anything, but it allows you to put a suppressor on and shoot quietly if you so choose, so win, win, right? What am I missing?
If congress would get off their butts and do away with the stupid NFA tax stamp requirement for suppressors then they'd become very popular very quick. Maybe Kimber is thinking ahead and getting ahead of the curve.
More likely a nod to the Euro/British market. "Moderators" are very popular in Britain for shooting in settled areas. They use full-power ammo, so the report is merely "moderated", but it helps keep the peace with civilians. I don't think there's any restriction on their possession, which is strange considering the rest of their laws, such as licensing airguns that generate over 12 foot pounds of energy. A show I watched yesterday on shooting wood pigeons featured the shooter calling the police before he started to prevent them from sending the SWAT after him in response to the gunfire. He bagged 126 from one spot.
"Field Sports Britain" and "The Shooting Show" are two good channels on YouTube that have a lot of hunting stuff from shooting rats at night with NV equipment to red stag and boar hunting.
I don't think there's any restriction on their possession, which is strange considering the rest of their laws, such as licensing airguns that generate over 12 foot pounds of energy.
When you think about it, it's our laws that are strange on suppressors not theirs. They're just mufflers, there's absolutely no reason to regulate or restrict their use. It's like charging a tax for putting a muffler on your car.
It's not a strange law at all. Our politicians never met a tax they didn't like.
He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.
I'm not sure what you mean by overkill, but I think the idea of a threaded barrel for any chambering in the 84M is silly. If you want a brake or a suppressor, go get it threaded yourself or order it that way. Coming standard with the rifle??
Have a 7mm08 Kimber Montana I bought approx 13 years ago that I'm seriously thinking of getting threaded so I can a suppressor on it if I choose to do so. Seriously considering a 243 to keep it company in the safe...what's not to like?
Maybe we could thread on other accessories. .........Flux capacitor...
Johnw, with a flux capacitor, you could go down range, safely to the side, and watch your bullet impact up close and personal.
