Just got my new grip today and looks like they could have designed this a bit better or am I just being too fusst? I put a foam plug in the insert, something Pachmayr should have furnished. It's on a Sq.butt 586

Take the plug out and leave it alone. Eventually the grips will form around the gun and fit quite nicely. Typical Pachmayr grips.

That rectangular cut out is so you can see the serial number on your S&W revolver without removing the grip.
