I have right side diverticulitis, which is unusual. My wife has it on the left side and is bothered by it much of the time. Mine is fine if I don't eat things that aggravate it.
Metamucil Is Your Friend!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stress that enough.

I appreciate the help!! A STRICT Paleo Diet. Not eating enough plant lignins, combined with too much starch, caused your problems. Sugar, pasta, and other refined carbs, consumed in any amounts, will continue to destroy your health.

There has been alot of news just lately about the connection between refined sugars and the desteuction of healthy gut bacteria, its link to your immune system, and the fight aginst cancer which docs are linking to gut bacteria. Take all with a grain of salt. But highly interesting. Feed your body well. Its a complex engine. Everything else in moderstion. See if you can clean up your diet. Red meat also seems to bother me alittle bit, if i go off it. But i aint gonna give it up. Feel better on fish and chicken tho. Best of luck. Hope you feel better soon.

I wonder if that's what I have?
I was just in to the doc today with pain/discomfort in the lower right quadrant. They took labs and x-rays. They sent me home with Miralax for now and won't know lab results until tomorrow.
Do they know if its Diverticulitis from lab tests or?

I've had diverticulitis 3 times. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DiverticulosisIf it's an infection, a blood test should show an increase in white blood cells. P

I have had it for 10 years. The first time I ended up in the hospital for three days watching the bag full of antibiotics drip. I didn't realize what it was and put off going to the doctor until the infection had my body temp up to 102! I stopped eating foods with seeds and nuts and popcorn. I would still have bouts with it. My doctor wrote a prescription for the antibiotics to have at home to start taking as soon as I felt the symptoms flare up. After 8 years of having flare ups 3 times a year to some times going a year and a half between bouts I spent a year fighting it. I would take the antibiotics and would recover for a few days and it would return with in a week. After a year of fighting this I was sent to a specialist. He looked at my records and changed my antibiotics. He told me I was resistant to the medicine. He gave me a guide to living with diverticulitis. He told me to eat anything I wanted. There is no proof of nuts or popcorn causing the problem. He said to take fibre every day and stay well hydrated. Keep everything flowing smoothly and do not strain when going to the bathroom! Eat lots of vegetables and roughage. I have not had a flare up in a year.

Good luck!
Happens to millions of people every year. Probiotics can help! Buy some good ones and eat more fiber if possible. Take it very seriously and see a doctor when symptoms appear.

With the both of us living with it the wife and I find that roughage from good vegetables, lots of water, and psyllium fiber drinks every day control it, as well as probiotics. Yogurt in the diet also helps. Stay away from refined flour, sugar, and starches in general.
