getting ready for turkey season---I'm taking several young hunters on their 1st hunt. Patterning their shotguns, getting permission from landowners, building blinds, patterning blinds, etc.

Plus just getting back to earth after winning the "Dink pork athon." smile

You have wanted to retire for a while Pat. Good for you.
You are going to wake up one day in the future (six months or so) and the "stress" of the job will be gone.

I think Sheriff is a good one to run for in your home town.
Get the stress gone first, get bored then go for it.

Congrats LT. Mine is a way off but it's always encouraging to hear one of the good guys make it to the finish line.

Can't say I know you very well, but from what I've seen from your posts, it's time.

There's nothing like a little occupational catharsis for the soul. Congratulations!

Pat, congrats.

When you leave you will feel the weight you never realized you were carrying lifted off your back, and a sense of relief will overcome you.

Before you leave...do all the fun stuff you enjoyed about the job when you first started.

-Go red light and siren to a call your really don't need to, (just don't crash.)

-Start a foot chase for no real good reason, (just dont catch him.)

-Stop a driver you know won't have a license, and when he tells you his song and dance, just smile and let him go.

After you leave, you will miss it tremendously, when you come to the realization that no other job will ever incite the degree of emotions both positive and negative.

Congrats Pat. 15 April is just in time for you to sign up to work for Trump's campaign.

Congrats, Pat. Hope you find the time to do some fun stuff before you get bored of retirement and head back into the work force.

Glacier in Montana is worth the trip, and it is a heck of a trip from your place.

Congrats, Lt.

There are MANY American Counties that could benefit from having a Sheriff of your caliber.

8-9 days and counting.

I retired at the end of 2001 after 30 years and 3 months of policing. I thorough enjoyed the job, but I can tell you that retirement fits Jess fine. I'm half way through my 15th year post retirement, and . . . . . .

You'd be Better than Andy Taylor,I can see you hanging at Floyd's barber shop, playing the guitar and singing to Barney and walking down the road with a fishing pole on your shoulder!
