The bausch & lomb 6-24x40 rifle scopes -what are they worth?

Looking at a used rifle that has a bausch & lomb 6-24x40 rifle scope on it with target turrets, had never seen one of those old scopes before but after checking around I see folks are crazy on ebay wanting $375 to $450 for those old vintage scopes. On ebay you can ask a lot but do they actually sell?

I've bought them used on various forums in the $250 range. Excellent scopes for the money. People think because they're not made anymore that they're worth more.

They're worth no more than the equivalent Bushnell, as the B&L line was rolled into the Bushnell brand, same Jap maker for both, as I understand it.

I've looked at the B&L and wasn't impressed enough to drop the coin the shop was asking for... And I've always wondered if Bushnell would repair one if it required servicing.

I've got one of those, too. It's lived on a heavy barrel 22-250 and shot some pretty impressive groups.

Great scopes for the money. Years ago I replaced all of Leupold 6.5X20's for the Bausch&Lomb 6X24's. Way better scope! The later version Bushnell's are great too. You can buy nice used one's for $325.00 to $400.00 dollars. I have only had one issue in all of the years I have used them and that was a crosshair that broke. I sent it in and it was replaced with a new scope.

Not sure if Bushnell would repair a B&L. Same scopes, but they may punt on warranty, even though the B&L line became Bushnell.

A call to Bushnell would tell the story. Share that info with us if you make the call.

A few years ago I sent a B & L Elite spotter that had been used hard to get it checked. They sent me a new model of the same spotter that says Bushnell on the side.

Regarding that scope: I bought one in 96 and used it a lot on several rifles, but mainly for rock chucks. It was a great scope. The eye relief was a little short, but no problems.

ER on Bushnell scopes seems a bit short compared to Leupold, Conquest, etc. But they're great scopes with excellent glass. So, I use them on other than my biggest boomers.
