Gophers at 400 and a fan of tiny groups does not equal chrome lined barrel... Yep. Daniels are very reliable, but not tack drivers... for less money and better groups, try... https://armalite.com/shop/m-15-target-rifle/

Gophers at 400 and a fan of tiny groups does not equal chrome lined barrel... Truth.
Blue and rost gave you some good advice. I would just add that you shouldn't try to make one rifle do all things. I'm guessing here, so this may not apply to you specifically, but if you want a bench gun... then get one that will shoot tacks. Pick the barrel of your choice, but don't complain if it's heavy.
On the other hand, if you want a handy-dandy varmint/coyote upper, then get one. But don't complain if it don't shoot absolute bugholes, day-in-day-out, week-after-week.
It's easy to fall into a trap where we try to make one rifle do more than it can. Life is much simpler if we set realistic goals. You may need two different rifles or uppers. Or maybe not.
You're just getting your feet wet so I wouldn't worry too much. Tackle the high priority needs first and it should fall into place, but if you try to make one upper do all things you'll probably not be happy.
And more truth. Besides, a guy needs more than one AR, just like potato chips, hard to have just one. And all that money needs to stay in circulation................ MM

Last weekend I was popping clay pigeons on the 300 yard berm with my Rock River LAR-15 with 16" barreled 'Coyote' upper. This with a 2x scope. The only customization was the trigger had been replaced with a Ruger Elite 452.
Pigeons at 500 and I was wasting my time and bullets, but not by much (misses were close, just not close enough). Probably would have done better with higher powered scope.
At 600 yards I couldn't even tell where the bullets were hitting.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

White Oak makes wonderful uppers - I had one of their service class ones when I was going to compete in CMP and it was the bees knees.

They've never let me down... even a pulled used barrel rechambered once, was shooting under MOA on a hunting upper....
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Three things are needed for a precise shooting AR- -Quality barrel -A bolt matched to the barrel assembly -Quality ammo
Dye, check out Rainier Arms. They have a store in Washington, carry some high quality parts along with barrels that are known to shoot lights out, are knowledgeable and have great customer service. They also have a website you can peruse
