Hello. I am Looking for a Serious Smith & Wesson Collector/Appraiser. I have a Limited Edition 1911 S&W .45 Golden Eagle that was made in 2003 and cannot find any information on its Value/Worth. I've been told $3500 - $5000. but that's a Wide margin to try and go buy. My Local Cabela's said it had to be taken to a Bigger store over 140 miles away to be appraised and I cannot find anyone online. Shoot me a P.M with Info or a Phone number to call. Thank you in Advance. Zr
This Pistol is none of the Above listed, Was a Special "Dealers" only Pistol. It was made in 2003 and retailed for $1999.00 then, Called Golden Eagle. Here is a Pic.
Generally speaking when a manufacture makes a "collectors edition" or special edition, or whatever, it more often than not does not actually create an actual collector demand.
Much like an "elvis presley tribute 1911" or similar "special" gun.
Also, S&W is not a really sought after 1911 manufacture in regards to collector guns, as compared to COLT.
Plus, S&W is known for cranking out all manner of goofy "collector series" like:
SW1911 Land of the Free w/gold
SW1911 SS Long May It Wave w/gold
SW1911 SS Mexican Eagle Ltd. Ed
SW1911 SS .45 ACP Engraved
SW1911 SS Rebel Flag Ltd. Ed.
Of course they are nowhere near as bad as Sig Saur when it comes to cranking out goofy short runs of weird stuff.
That may not be what you want to hear, but it is the truth.
