I loaded up 100 204 rounds the other night using 40 grain Hornady vmax bullets and new Winchester brass. When I checked them over the last 25 had a circular bulge in the neck at the base of the bullet.
First rounds I have really loaded for a small calibre and have no idea as to why it happened. Anyone else had this issue? Thanks

No usually do but got lazy this time. Have to pull bullets and neck size see f that will straighten them out I guess.

well I could see the reason for the bulge if you were loading 29 caliber bullets in a 20 caliber case.... 294 vs 204... actually if they will chamber, they should shoot fine... I use to do some calibers like that and it didn't effect accuracy it seemed....or point of impact... but then I'm know for all sorts of weird stuff at times...

294 Ruger? Heck I thought maybe Ruger had standardized the B29.

Your die is oversizing the neck anyway, expander or not, if you have a visible bulge like that. As long as they chamber correctly and aren't too far off center you should be "okay." But later on, I'd sure consider a bushing die.

Always run new through a resizing die. Privi brass is notorious for that
