Seafire, sent you a pm a couple days ago about Blue Dot loads. Just found some Blue Dot locally. I gave you a heads up in the pm where you might find it.
I appreciate all the data you've posted on this. I've already tried loading some in the 223, and I'm hoping to make it to the range today to shoot my first tests with it.
Hoping to load for the 204, 22-250, and 7-08, and possibly the 30-30 in a contender with 125 BT's. I know you said in other posts you never got the 30-30 to work well, but I'd like to mess with it a bit because in a Contender Carbine with 125's, seems like it would be a fun plinker.
Thanks again for all the great info.

Went and shot the .223 loads today. Started with 13 grains, and shot one of the best groups I've ever fired through my Contender Carbine 223. The 5 shot group measured .243". Chronographed at an average of 3043 fps. Almost no recoil, very quiet report, and very little barrel heat. Amazing all the way around!
Seafire, thanks for posting about these loads. I've been looking for a Hornet barrel for my Carbine, but this will certainly work the magic a Hornet would have, and probably more accurately. Love the idea of shooting for a longer period of time without worrying about barrel heat, and much longer overall barrel life because of the cooler temps. I sure don't see a downside here!

John C., What bullet were you using in your Contender carbine with that 13gr. BD load? I have a finicky Tender carbine myself is why I ask.. Thx
It's a great life if you don't weaken..

I was loading the 40g Ballistic Tip. I'm still on a perpetual high from how well they shot.
I've got a quite a few Contenders/Encores and I've noticed they are pretty finicky as a lot for tightness of frame to barrel fit, as well as forend pressure. I actually used a pistol forend on this rifle and it seems really help it shoot. I think there was way to much pressure with the standard full length for end, although it sure looks nice!

Headed your way tomorrow Seafire. Going to try those Blue Dot loads on some sage rats out of K Falls. Staying in Medford to work the National 1,000 yard BenchRest Competition.
