I was working on putting together a knock-about rifle for general woods walking and wondered. Has anyone made up a shotshell for a 45-70?

The Army used to use 'em, long ago. I used to have one in my old cartridge collection .45-70, original arsenal round with a thin-shelled hollow wooden jacket, shaped like a round-nose bullet, full of fine shot.

The Remington (I think) plastic shot cups for .410 shells ought to be a good place to start nowadays maybe capped with .45 gas checks for cast bullets, or over-shot wads cut from shirt cardboard.

I'd then load, I think, .410 loads in .45-70 cases.

"Good enough" isn't.
