I grew up staying there for weeks at a time. The lady of the house, a dear friend, passed away and the kids cant take care of it. They would love to see it go to someone with an attachment.

I will move my cabinet shop onto the farm. Am also researching a saw mill, mushrooms, chickens and a few different crops.

I would love to get constructive insight and suggestions from like minded folk.

Sounds like you'll be busy. If your looking for another project i'd think about a couple pigs. Not very much work, or investment, but worth it at the table.

Sounds like a great opportunity if you can make it all work out for you.
I'd love to have a place like that.

36 acres gives you lots of options...is it wooded...or pasture...or a rock pile...

I would love to have a pig pen. Wife might leave me......her uncle had pigs in Upstate NY.

The original structure of the farmhouse was built in 1840(ish). There is an addition which was constructed in 1952. House needs to be expanded.

The property is probably 50% tree surrounded pasture, 25% yard (fast mower conveys) and 25% woods. Has a 1/4 acre pond and several out buildings in various states of degradation.

Will post pics soon.

You're going to need a tractor. Time to head to the man store and spend some coin.

I grew up in MD. Lived there for the first 33years of my life. Saw a lot of change, and none for the better. My family still lives there, I moved to VA.

I don't want to cast any negativity on what you're doing, if you are already in MD, then you know if you can tolerate the state. If you visited from out of state, then give some serious thought to moving there.

I would love to see my family, but I won't go back there.

There is a tractor there! Its a Case 2550. Has a nice scoop on the front and a log splitter currently mounted on the rear. Comes with a bush hog and a finish mower.

Hoping to work it in to the deal.

Good luck,

First thing I be looking at is if the house and cabinet shop need anything to get them up and going. Than I'd look at making sure the fences are in good order and what the land needs. Weed problems, dying trees, water issues, are things I'd look into before doing anything else.

Since it looks like you have a tractor, an ATV would be handy for 36 acres. There is also all the tools that go with taking care of land.

Good luck it sounds like you have a really great opportunity here! I wish you well

Thank you for the well wishes!

The farm house needs help. Will need to do several things to it including an addition and update the wiring and plumbing. There are also vines attacking a lot of the trees on the property.....thats going to take some time.

Previous owner, before he died installed a new septic system, dug a new well and did an electrical heavy up. Those items and clearing out the junk cars are a huge help. Still tons to do including getting rid of some dilapidated out buildings.

Garage/Shop will coincide with housework if things go through. Should know what to offer in the next week or so. Their appraisal is due in any day now.
