I'm starting to lose Hornet brass due to loose primer pockets, after 11 or 12 reloads. The load in question is 4.5 gr. Unique, WW Small Pistol Primers and a 55 gr Hornady SP. This is in both Win. & RP brass. Any Ideas

Any reason you would not want to back off your load a tenth of a grain or so?
How many pieces of brass are you looking at the loose primer pockets? May be time to start a new batch of brass. What is it you were hoping for?

buntingmeister,
I have tried various primers in the .22 Hornet with a lot of different loads, but have yet to find one that would prevent case heads from expanding and primer pockets loosening with a given load. And that includes primers from the mild Remington 6-1/2 to the hot CCI 450.
The real solution to the problem is to reduce the powder charge or bullet weight.

Pick up some Wolf primers - They are slightly bigger in diameter than standard, so you can stretch your brass life a bit. Shame that hornet brass is so tough to find nowadays...

I really appreciate the responses guys. Just reinforced what I was afraid of, time for new brass. I'm just tight. Thought that there might be something I could adjust to increase brass life. Can't reduce the powder charge much more or the bullet weight for that matter as it will ring rams, it's my field pistol load. Any experience with Parvi brass?

I feel there is nothing wrong with the Privi 22 Hornet brass. The brass I am looking forward to hearing reports on is the Nossler 22 Hornet brass now being offered. Might have a hundred Privi 22 hornet brass I could part with if you are not having luck elsewhere.
Suspect the larger primer may get you through till the Nosler or Privi is in stock at one of your favorite vendor's.
