I came across a Ruger m77 257 Roberts with a plain walnut (no checkering ) stock. Did Ruger ever put a plain stock on the M77? It has the Red rubber butt plate and black cap with the Ruger emblem on the stock. Serial number says it an 81 model.

The only uncheckered Ruger factory stocks that I've seen have been owned by Ruger employees. I don't think that Ruger has ever cataloged a walnut stocked 77 without checkering.
