Has anyone developed loads for 130gr and 160gr bullets using RL-33 powder in the 264WM and what are the results? Also any other bullet weights. I finally found a store with a supply of the RL-33 so need a starting point for it. Thanks

I have only loaded 140's with RL-33. I started with 71 grains and went up to 76. Good accuracy and great velocity. Sorry I can't help with the 130 and 160 weights.

Same here, 142 LRAB's pushed by 75 gr RL 33. Same report as Dusty. Ran mine up to 78 and started getting extractor marks.

I use the 127 LRX exclusively in my 264 win mag with 75 gr of R-33. I get 3275- 3300 depending on the temp. R-p brass,215 or 250 mag primer . Very accurate out of my Kreiger barrel.

PM Rick (rcamuglia). He has a lot of LR experience with the 264 WM and IIRC, likes RL-33.

I ran some loads across the chrono about two weeks ago just to check for pressure and speed.

130AB and RL-33, new WW brass, CCI magnum primer
26" pre-64 Westerner with stainless tube

74gr ran 3182.
75gr ran 3350
76gr ran 3410
77g ran 3436

I had one ready with 78 but chose not to fire it. I had no pressure signs but didn't want to push it. 34 and change was enough speed for me.

I have not gone any further with this experiment at present.

You are getting good numbers, I also have a pre 64 westerner with a 26 inch stainless steel barrel, I thought about trying RL 33 but I don't like to try powders when the manufacturer does not have loads tested for that powder and cartridge.

That 170 fps increase in speed for 1.0 grain of powder makes me nervous. 35 fps +/- 5fps is pretty typical for me per 1.0 grain increase in this cartridge with those real slow burning powders. How many shots at each charge weight? I experienced very linear increases in speed with H-1000, RL-25, RL-33 and US869.

Muskeg, I agree with you. It made me wonder but I did keep careful track of the readings and that is what it said. Fairly new pro-chrono. Bright sunny day.

I just prepared and fired one at each weight, like I said I was simply testing to see how it all went. So I have no idea on the accuracy. It is quite an accurate rifle, and I'm not a super duper rifleman. I was previously using RL 22 with this rifle and achieving 3100 and sub moa groups.

72 grains with a 139 Scenar is my load.

When working with unknown components, start low and work up as normal. It's not really that tough.

If you own a .264 Winchester Magnum and would like it to perform to its capability, you just signed up to be your own ballistician whether you know it or not.

139 Scenar, that's a nice bullet.
