Neither my grandfather or my father died when they they fought and bled for our country. Neither did I when I served. But today when driving back from a daughters house I kept seeing the Bernie signs in yards and stickers on cars. I have to admit is made me feel ill. All of those fine men and women who have fought for this country and gave their all only to have a socialist within reach of the white house turned my stomach.

What the hell has happened? In many ways I am glad they did not see what has happened.

Many of the strong fought and died. That left a whole bunch of the weak behind to procreate.

Hmm

What went wrong..

The media became a propoganda wing, rather than a watchdog.

Our elected officials granted themselves more and more power, and hence more and more benefits. And more protection to deal with the outrage.

Technology and medicine has advanced, but made us softer, distancing us from the temporariness and fragility of life and its cycles.

We became a Nation of consumers, rather than producers, which is not the working mans fault.

Women's liberation, while worthwhile for them to lead a more fulfilled life which I don't begrudge them, has put serious strains on the foundations of cohesive, organized society: marriage, family.

National Pride and Service has become a punchline used by the Left to denote backwardness.

Man, if I thought about it enough there would be more....

Wars aren't started by countries, they're started by politicians, using other people's money and other people's children. The politicians generally do what they can to whip up intense hatred in their subjects for the other politicians' subjects, but aside from this, most ordinary people on one side would be perfectly happy trading, gossiping, or drinking an adult beverage with most ordinary people on the other side.

Hence, soldiers don't actually fight for their countries (although that's what they're told they're doing, and many of them believe it). They fight for politicians.

And politicians looooove socialism, because it gives them a terrific amount of power. That's why both Democrat and Republican politicians have already driven this country to an arguably greater degree of economic socialism than what now exists in Communist China, which is being forced in the other direction.

The only thing unique about Sanders is that he's the first politician who has managed to get away with openly using the word "socialism," even though he has to dilute it with the modifier "democratic," which doesn't mean anything but gives the feeling of denoting something a little less extreme than full-on socialism.

The country's been heading that way at least since 1912. The thing that should surprise us is not that it has arrived (by some people's definitions, or will be arriving soon, by anyone's definition), but that it took more than a century to find a politician who had the guts to call it by name.

So, in answer to your question, that's what happened...sez me. Soldiers fought and died to keep a succession of crypto-socialist politicians in power, and the succession has just naturally gone less crypto- and more socialist over time.

The fact that the electorate has discovered it can vote itself raises has nothing to do with it?

There is plenty of blame to go around including the politicians we elect, teachers at all levels who have drunk the Kool-aid of the left since before the 60's and espouse that nonsense and parents that don't raise their childeren properly or at all.

I think you are on to something. You may well have answered my question. In my day the strong volunteered or were drafted and the weak went to Canada not doing a lot for Canada.

Although this day is not about those of us still here, I salute my fellow oath takers who have taken up arms.

I never bled - did my time - and would cheerfully choke many of today's A-holes, who put down our country, a country they never did anything to help, or promote.

We have become a nation of sissies. It starts with "hurt feelings" and just goes on from there.

Everyone gets a trophy, there are no winners, and certainly no losers. Until the real world gets ahold of you, and then we just blame those who aren't as unfortunate...because they obviously had an unfair advantage.

That is why Bernie is so popular...he wants to make people "feel better"
