Hey guys.

Bought a Stevens mod 200 in 30-06 a few years back. Have a decent scope on it, but nothing special. Was hoping to do some shooting out to three hundred, maybe further in the future.

The Tupperware factory stock is awful. The gun recoils hard, and the stock is cheap and ugly. I am getting a tikka 243 as my deer, nuisance beaver and all around carry gun, so I don't mind if my 06 is a bit heavier. This gun is already wickedly accurate, even with my lack of shooting skill.

What stock would you recommend? Hopefully not break the bank, yet won't disappoint me when I am trying to increase accuracy down the road. I will be working up a hand load for this rifle with a friend.

I had been looking at Boyd's, but any other options out there?

Thanks in advance.

Hutch

For the money the Boyd's is a good start. It will make your gun heavier, and I would recommend spending the extra money to get the 1 inch decellorator pad.

I would call Savage and ask them who makes there wood stocks or ask them if they would sell you one. They put a wood stock (w/ Indian Head cap) on my Stevens.

There are other options, but for the money Boyd's is hard to beat. You could probably pick up a B&C Medalist stock pretty reasonable if you want a synthetic. Luckily Savage hasn't ever changed the action screw spacing on the long actions and they are easier to find stocks for.

Since the Stevens 200 is just a pre-AccuTrigger Savage 110 series barreled action, any of the older style Savage 110 series stocks will work. Boyds is a good option and of the Boyds styles, I rather like the Heritage style.
