Bought a TRS25 two years ago to try on a Blackhawk in .45 Colt. Have over 500 midpower cast bullet range loads on it, and hunted it once or twice a week for two seasons, killed a couple meat does.
Liked it fine and bought a second for a muzzleloader. At the end of last season, the red dot started fading out with recoil. A good slap or two always brought it back, but at the range yesterday, it’d give me a shot or two and then go dark and considerable tapping, twisting, and sweet talking were needed get it to come back.
So what’s the next step up if an aimpoint is too rich? Am looking at Vortex Sparc and Strikefire. Heard the Burris red dots are a pain to sight in. My eyes just can’t do irons anymore.

I'm no expert, and have limited red dot experience, but I really like a burris fast fire. I can see a lot better through the open window. They are rated to be mounted on the slides of semi auto pistols. That's got to pound one pretty good. I also have an Aimpoint knock-off made by Primary Arms. It got good reviews over on the AR 15 forum. I like it a lot. It looks just about like the one you have now. It costs about $160 or so and has a 50,000 hour battery life. Between the 2, I like the burris better though.

fldoghunter, does the Burris require untightening/tightening set screws to sight in?

Anyone else have some time on a midprice red dot?

Not sure about the fastfire 3, but the 1&2 do have set screws you have to loosen and retighten after. I've only had zero it twice. Once when I put it on a Buckmark, and again when I moved it to my turkey gun. It never has moved.

slightly off topic - have you tried sending in your TRS25 under warranty?

FLD, I'm not a Burris fan but might try one. Durable is good.

Grady, no, the 1 year warranty has expired. My past experience w. Bushnell cs has been uninspiring.

I'm still impressed w. the TRS for the price and will save the old one for lighter recoil applications. I suspect it'll be fine. But I want something a little tougher for hunting.

Might look at the Primary Arms or Holosun offerings.

I did NOT like the small size of the TRS25.
On a handgun I just saw too much of the tube/knobs around it.

Better for me was to move it closer to the eye. Proly great for a 10/22 (esp for bunnies).

Got a Primary Arms 30mm red dot (Aimpoint clone). Dot is 3 MOA and not much flare. Brightness adjustment is not hard click like Sightmark. Does have detent, but is very light.
Also has night vision settings, so more clicks in one direction to get where I want.

So far it's held up.

If it continues to do so, I like it afield......is on a Super 14 .223 Contender right now............then I'll fork over the $ and get a real Aimpoint, let the kid have this one.

The Sightmark had a bigger dot and maybe 5 total brightness settings. Liked the knob feel/detent, but dot was freakin 5 MOA IIRC.

If I dislike the reddot, then a straight 2X Leupold is my only other optic choice. Can't stand more than that.

I picked up a Leup m8 2x to try, but it won't work for me, eye relief is too long or my arms must be too short. Am sticking w. the red dot. Will look at P.Arms 30mm, thanks for the thought. Have you used it on anything that kicks?
