Milwaukee fuel lineup.

Either 12v or the 18v

I haven't read all the posts, wont comment on brand, but I'd recommend that what ever you decide on you make sure it's equipped with lithium ion batteries

I have found that to be true of Makita tools across the line.

I gave up on all the big name brands. The battery gives out, you replace it for $40+ and 6 months late ]r the drill gives out. Now I buy the $18 ones from Harbor Freight. They last3-4yeras, throw them away and buy another.

Milwaukee fuel has been a darn good drill for me and others.

The batteries will wear you out.

They cost a little more but i feel they are worth it.

In all actuality, there is probably about 3, maybe 4 factories that make 99% of the brands. A brand may have it's own specs but is still made in the same factory as the next brand down the line.

Yep.

I use a Dewalt daily and have no complaints. Recently bought a couple of Rigid drills and so far they have worked well.

I've owned and wore out 3 Dewalts, 1 Craftsman and now am using Makita.
Tough good drills all, batteries seem to last with the Makita's.

The Makita switches are garbage, and I don't have time to chase parts down and fix things. For that kind of money, they either put a decent switch in, or I'm buying something else.

I've gone through a Harbor Freight drill, and two 4.5" grinders in the last year. No more of that nonsense, for sure.

Our last project in the Fall (85 yards of concrete in the walls) burnt up two Ridgid drills (one a hammer drill) one battery and one Ridgid impact driver. I don't care about any "lifetime" warrenty. I don't have time to fill out hunt up receipts, fill out pages of paperwork and then pay for shipping it in. What am I going to do for the 8 weeks it'll take to hear something back? Drive screws with a screwdriver for two months?

Just bought a Milwaukee brushless set. Hoping they will last a little better. We have 6,800 screws to drive/ remove in the next six weeks, so that should tell us something.

I like my corded Milwaukee angle grinders and hammer drills, though for corded tools, Hilti is the catz azz..... Love, love, LOVE my new corded hammer drill. Drills concrete like it's butter.....

Not discounting your experience, but giving mine.

I was needing an 18v drill 10 years ago. Noticed my millwrights at work all had Panasonic drills in their boxes. Lowes was having a sale, so I bought one. It wouldn't hold onto a 3/16 bit long enough to drill a hole in a pressure treated 4x4 no matter how tight I made it. Took it back and bought a dewalt.

The next week my millwrights were doing a job for me, I griped at them for their choice in tools. They defended their Panasonic as their owner got a deal on them and loaded them up. They hated them.

Two of them now own the company. Their job boxes are full of dewalt, Milwaukee, and Hilti.

My dewalt is still going strong, but I only use it as a heavy homeowner type use.

Most of our employees have switched to Hilti.
A little more up front and you have to go through a dealer,
but they warranty the lithium batts. Get a hold of a dealer.

Most days, the "best" drill for me is my 12 volt DeWalt impact driver. I spend a lot of time on a ladder above the drop ceilings in office buildings doing HVAC work. The 12 volt is small and light weight with plenty of power for driving screws in sheet metal or removing panels on roof top units, plus I really like the 12 volt flashlight that uses the same battery.

Recently I have been on a special project that involved building a wall from 1/2" plywood and 2x4 studs. I purchased a 20 volt set last week to drive the 2 & 3" deck screws. The hardware store had it for $299. When I got to the register a manager told me they had a tool trade in promotion going on and told the cashier to give me the trade in credit, which knocked it down to $199. I have not used the drill yet, but I am very pleased with the driver so far.
