Is the wood stamped with serial numbers on 1899's ? the buttplate is numbered but nothing else

I have an 1899 that is the same way....not really sure why, but same as yours...

I was told the same thing from many here on the forum, and after researching found the same, that they should be numbered.

But, my wood is not stamped either....
