Who makes a 3-position for a Remington M700 and Model Seven? Who has done the swap and what do you think of it?
Are they worth it and do they work with Timney triggers?

PT&G makes one, I've never used one, they should work with a Romney.

My smith likes to use Gentry..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

This rifle has a PTG wing safety. Closeup: It's a Timney trigger in her. It's nice to have the wing safety, but I don't mind the standard Remington safety either. I paid for the mod once to try it out, I'm not sure it's a big enough improvement to pay for it again. v/r Joel

I have a Gentry on one rifle. Not worth the price of admission.

And that's nothing against the Gentry, but there is nothing gained with a 3 pos.

I have one on a M700 and a VZ24 and both function fine. I happen to like the 3 pos. safety, but is it worth the effort and price? You'll have to decide that.

I prefer the Winchester safety, on a Winchester. I wouldn't pay extra for it on a Remington. But I do prefer the older style Remington safety that locked the bolt handle down. Remington and Winchester solved the same problem equally well with 2 different approaches. If Remington had just left their design alone!
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I have 2 700's with W70 safeties. Got from some company in Centralia WA. Best money I ever spent on a Remington. Had 3 older models, 1970's that would lock the bolt. 2 would go off when you released the safety. I know that it was all my fault not the rifle. Sold all 3. In the 1990's I bought 2 Remington VSSF and immediatley converted the safeties and could not be happier. The last Remington I put a Jewell in. Remington triggers old model were great, and safeties were terrible. New models, the triggers are awful. Just one mans opinion.

I am not a fan of the Rem. M/700 safety I would convert to an Ed LaPour three position and Timney trigger.

I' had two custom M70 style safeties installed with Timney Triggers. Both of them worked fine. One was a custom 660 Remington action, while the other was done on a custom 98 mauser. They are a much better safety than the standard remington. I've had problems with dust and water traveling down the remington safety arm into the action. This can result in a drastic change of trigger pull, or the bolt release. The remington safety, if it locks the bolt, can be damaged by an upward blow on the bolt resulting in a rifle that won't fire. If the safety is designed not to lock the bolt, as the latest ones are, the bolt can move upward preventing the gun from firing unless one return the bolt to the fully down position. Last of all, unlike the M70 safety, the remington safety works on the trigger, not on the firing pin. Remington has been sued many times over there safety design. I've never heard of winchester being sued over it's M70 safety design. Yes, they are worth the money. E

I was just looking back thru and noticed this. I can't really cypher what your saying. This is what I'll say. Get you a string and a 3lb brick. Tie the string to the brick and hang it off your trigger on safety. Place your mouth over the end while setting in your stand. I'm no scarred to do it my way. That would be a Hint.... Much like a lockblade knife. Mechanical systems fail everyday. After carrying a rifle for 20 year daily. Ask me how I figured it out twice.
