I recently acquired a Model 1895 in .303 Savage. When I enter my S.N. on the lookup site, all it says is "Your Savage is an 1895". I'm looking for the year it was made. Any suggestions? The number is 39XX. Thanks!

I would bet a Yankee dollar that it's an 1895.

The 1895's were not made in serial order. Most of the ones in the 39xx range that I have data on were made in the first part of 1897.

Re-stocked (Fajen), re-blued and the round barrel is 24". It is, however, rather attractive in it's own right...and the price was affordable. Lol

Nice thing about old Fajen and Bishop stocks is that there's usually enough meat in them that a svelte classic stock can be released with a rasp and a little determination.
Oops, didn't see page two. Nothing wrong with the looks of this one as-is, other than non-originality.
