Have you used him in the past?

I have a buddy needing his .308 threaded.

He's very well known in the Savage community. He has done a couple different jobs for me. First was truing up an action and putting the factory tube back on and bedding into a new stock.

Second was a full build with a pre-fit barrel.

I've been very happy with his work so far.

Long Rifles Inc. does very nice work and charges $100.

Not sure if they would do the press fit shoulder though. Haven't seen that before.

It took me a year to get mine. I bought a Savage hog hunter to put it on. Sounds like a BB gun with sub sonic loads. I use 11 grains Trail Boss with a 170. Grain 30-30 bullet. You can zap stray dogs or pigs in the yard. Neighbors have no clue I have been shooting at night. I kill pigs I trap with it. Guys on deer lease were whining about scaring all the deer off during deer season. It solved that problem.

Sounds like they are timing a brake for you, which is extra work.

On their site it says muzzle threading: $100.

I didn't realize pricing was on the website. That is correct. They are timing the Mack Brothers brake. I figured if I am already having it put in the lathe, why would I want to use shims to time it?

I've done a shoulder like that a few times, and it's common enough most gunsmith machinists can do it. There are right and wrong ways to do it though.

I just got a couple of light hunting rifles threaded ½-28 and need an adapter to go 5/8-24. I’ve seen several different styles. Which have yall used that are good quality that you can recommend?

This is one of the reasons I bought a Silencerco Harvester. I have 1/2-28 and 5/8-24 endcaps...I thread everything 5/8-24 if I can, but I have some light barreled rifles that dont have enough meat..

Yep, the Omega has both available also. When I had my rifle done, SiCo hadn't released the 1/2-28 thread mount so I went with a converter. Either will work though.

I have my wifes Kimber Montana cut down to 18" and threaded 1/2x28 and only use troy adapters on my rifles. I had horrible accuracy with some cheap ones. Took them off and used a troy manafacturing and my accuracy went back to where i was hoping it was. She has her own yhm titanium .30 cal she runs on it. Makes for a nice handy package. I will see if i can locate my pics of it. I would stay the hell of way from Morgan at Dallas shooting supplies. He threaded this barrel and when i received it it had rings around the barrel where he spun it or slipped. I called him up and he told me they will have that when he does them. I called bs on him and he said to send it back to him and he would bead blast it real quick. Two months later he still had the rifle and i sent him a email about the dam rifle. He said he had not yet purchased beads to blast the barrel but he could apin it on his machine and and make it look good. I was so pissed, i just wanted it back, so i could send it to somebody when knew what the [bleep] they were doing. His job was so freaking ugly, he spun the rifle in a machine and held sandpaper on it. The whole barrel had light ring marks on it. I packaged it up to kampfeld and he bead blasted it and checked the threading job for me because i did not trust this clown after this BS. Just a warning.

All y'all claiming you won't hunt without a can again...guessing you don't tote a Pennsylvania pattern flintlock?

In case you do and put a can on it you need professional help.

Never say never.

Unless you've blown a dude.

I don't want to fly.

I hunt with a suppressor. Sometimes. Or not. It's a matter of locale more than anything else. You probably already know that.

Have a buddy that put a can on a Marlin levergun in .44 Mag. Worked fine, killed chitt fair enough. Looked a little gay to me, but who am I to judge?

Never said "never" 'cept on Sunday. Once a long time back. Had to do with trying to pass a fella against a 40 mph headwind on a 2 lane blacktop, uphill. He was driving about 60 in a 65 mph zone. I was in a '66 VW Beetle. NEVER was that bold in the face of oncoming traffic. Entirely too noisy if you ask me.
