What is your thoughts on the 6.5 creed? I'am not sure if you have had a chance to shoot one.
But would like your opinion on this cartridge.
Thanks, jr1968.

But would like your opinion on this cartridge. jr1968- MD may favor us with an update of his thinking about the 6.5 Creedmoor. However, you probably should be aware that five years ago he published his thinking about the cartridge in a seven-page article in the June 2011 issue of Handloader magazine. Unfortunately, the online version of that issue does not contain the article. It does appear in revised form in his 2015 book, The Big Book of Gun Gack, pp 209-216. Copies are available from riflesandrecipes.com, and are well worth the price. Both versions of the Creedmoor article show a table of handloads with velocities and group sizes, as well as an account of the taking of a pronghorn doe. (The articles also include a photo of a box of Cream of Wheat, showing us that for fire-forming brass, JB/MD uses the quick-cooking 1-minute type of COW. This is understandable, because writers are usually facing deadlines requiring some moderate hustle in load development. Those of us able to take a more leisurely approach will likely continue to use the original 10-minute COW.) . . --Bob

I don't know who J. Scott Rupp is, but here's an article on the same topic from Rifle Shooter Magazine: http://www.rifleshootermag.com/ammo/the-versatile-6-5-creedmoor/

Here's another one from the online Free Library - it doesn't say who wrote it, but I suspect it's Barsness, since it mentions using DynaBoreCoat and taking an antelope with a Ruger Hawkeye in 6.5 Creed:

Thanks, jr1968. Yes JB, I'd like to know how your RAR-Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor is doing.

Have only shot the RAR enough to approximately sight it in. Haven't had time enough to really wring it out, and usually don't until an article is due!
By the way, Jeff, your PM inbox is full, and I need to send you one.

JB did write the article, which is available in color with illustrations and data tables, nicely formatted and printable, here: [color:#0000ff]Guns Magazine November 2012[/color]--Bob

I have been hunting with a 25 Creedmore for twenty years, but my gunsmith had engraved the barrel "250 Ackley Improved".

One consideration about the 6.5 Creedmoor is the price of factory ammunition. Not much choice and expensive - generally $40-$60 a box.
Comparatively, I can find several sources of 6.5x55 for $20 or under (look at ammoseek.com).
Yes, I know, no big deal if you handload, but it is still a factor.

Yes, I know, no big deal if you handload, but it is still a factor. I don't know where you're buying your ammo, but around Omaha, 6.5 Creedmoor ammo retails from around $22 to $32, with Federal/American Eagle and Winchester/Olin 140 grain target loads at the low end and Hornady Full Boar, Match, and Superformance at the high end. www.ammoseeker.com is showing Hornady's 129 grain American Whitetail load for as little as $18.15. I think that makes it better value for less than $20 per box shipped than the lower priced PP and S&B hunting ammo. Heck, at that price, I'm going to order 10 boxes of it!

Now we need JB to compare his RAR 6.5 to his Tikka .260.

Wow. I don't know how I made such a mistake!
Well, actually I do - I've been looking up ammo prices for several different calibers and I must have gotten it mixed up with 6.5-284.

How does the 6.5 Creedmore compare with the 260 Remington - assuming equal rifles, ammo, etc?
