Looking for recommendation....would like to stay under $250.
6in SIG Trailside gopher shooter looking for a red dot. Light weight 2moa or less. Right now looking at Primary Arms or Vortex Sparc II

65Jeffrey: About 6 years ago I started doing more field work (Varmint, Grouse and small game Hunting) with my long and heavy barreled 22 pistols.
The red dot sighting systems I have on several Ruger MK-II's, Ruger MK-III's and Browning BuckMarks have greatly enhanced my accuracy, lethality and fun factor with those pistols!
So my recommendation IS that you buy one and I am sure you will enjoy it as I have.
I hesitate to recommend any of the brands that I have on my pistols because they are "cheaper" types ($50.00 to $75.00 ranges) - they have worked well for me and hold P.O.I. well for me but I am as of yet not ready to recommend them.
I actually "baby" these pistols with the red dot sights on them to the nth degree!
They are never "worn" and they only come out of their heavily padded "Hunter brand" pistol rugs (and then un-wrapped from their fluffy 12"x12" Pro-Shot untreated gun cloths) when shooting is imminent - then its right back to being wrapped up and then zipped back up in their gun rug type cases.
I have many friends that use the red dot type optics on their rimfire Gopher Shooters and am sure that they are all happy with their performance.
Best of luck to you and wish I could be more definitive for you on a brand/model - I am just a bit hesitant to date to do so.

I've used and liked the DeltaPoint and C-More.

In your price range I'd grab a Burris Fastfire.

When it comes to reddots, I always rely on the 'fires resident optics reviewer. So I musta followed his advice to go Fastfires.....

How is a Fastfire type sight different than a dot like the Bushnell TRS25?

Assuming both have the same MOA dot and will be used for the same reasons.

Open reflex vs. tube-type......personal preference, I reckon.

More smaller and lighter.

Can co-witness with irons if you're inclined.

I have three TRS 25's and a J-Point (similar to the micro-reflex sights). I've really come to appreciate the micro-reflex style sights just for the lower profile.

Ed, that's a nice looking dot for a .22 I'd buy it.

The FFII is a good one but this one now wears a JPoint which is pretty much the same thing but no on/off switch.

Can't say.

But for that price it has to be worth trying.

Fast fire 3 with weaver adapter 204.00 shipped from Amazon. I got a mount for a Ruger MK2 for 42 bucks.

I put a vortex venom on a 6" smith model 57 and have had no problems with it, even with full power loads. I would buy another.I think it would be great on a .22 pistol. It was about $220 bucks including a weaver type mount.
