Tag - interested in this as well!
I prefer something with availability of short (10rd) mags personally, not a lot of choice there it seems.

So you want a 22LR upper?

IMHO, forget about the upper and buy a S&W M&P 15-22. CDNN has them for $299 and mags, either 10 or 25 round, for about $16.00. They are accurate and reliable.

I hear ya, but I want to run it on my SBRed lower, which would require a standard sized upper receiver.
I wouldn't mind SBRing a S&W, but that's dumping $200 and a 6+ month wait into a $300 rig.

Are you looking for a SBR 22 upper or a conversion unit? I have a CMMG 22 conversion unit as well as a S&W 15-22 and it's much more fun using the conversion unit in my SBR. It's picky on what ammo it likes and the mags need to be loaded carefully but the same needs to be said about the 15-22 also. Accuracy is better with the 15-22 since the conversion unit has about 2" freebore before hitting the rifling and then it uses the 5.56 rifling which is not twisted to 22LR specs but when I'm using these it's for playing, not for accuracy.f you want a complete upper CMMG makes some different uppers that are rifled for 22LR and they make them with short barrels.

I don't want one of the ones that uses your standard 5.56 barrel. I'm looking for a 22lr specific setup.
